The months of June and July feature some of the year's most coveted events, such as Wimbledon and the Royal Ascot, showcasing not only awe-inspiring athleticism but an unparalleled dress code to the events' international audience. For those of us that aspire to participate in these glamorous affairs outside the comfort of our living rooms, we dream of looking the part as well. This year, Demi Moore received praise from Harper's Bazaar for her eye-catching asymmetrical hat and Lottie Moss modernized feathered headwear. These fashion moments galvanize my personal style as well as my Pinterest boards; however, as a student, wearing a feathered headpiece to class seems slightly unrealistic, in part because of affordability. With that being said, you can still boost your summer style on a budget, and this doesn't necessarily mean finding a knock-off Gucci fedora on Amazon. Vintage hats are in style this summer, so much so that even bonnets are making a comeback. Ever since I watched Anne Hathaway hide Mia's new hair under a bucket hat in The Princess Diaries, I've been obsessed with the 90's trend and, to my luck, it's finally back. Modern takes on buckets range from soft lavenders to bright corals as well as plaids, faux fur, crochet, shiny finishes, and animal print. Eugenia Kim's elegant Toby Bucket Hat resembles many of the feathered looks at this season's exclusive events, making textured hats more acceptable for everyday street style.
